March 19, 2021 marks the three year anniversary of the death of the LAST male Northern White Rhinoceros, Sudan. I'm always saddened when I ruminate on the fact that an entire species of animal is about to be killed off the earth. The last two female Northern White Rhinos live on the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya. Ol Pejeta is working with Dvůr Králové Zoo to harvest eggs from the last two ladies to preserve the species. Through advanced assisted reproduction technologies they are happy to announce that in December 2020, two new northern white rhino embryos were produced. It is a tiny glimmer of hope. I did this ink piece of one of the ladies to honor these gentle giants. I will create up to 50 renditions of this Northern White Rhino and will donate $40 of every piece to the Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Each piece will be numbered and come with a certificate of authenticity. This is an 8"x10" India Ink piece drawn on 300 gsm watercolor paper.
