This week's workart features a drippy butterfly peacock bass. A prized game fish, these very large cichlids are South American natives. Introduced in other areas as a fisheries management tool, they have not had a negative impact on fishing communities, including those in Florida. The current IGFA all-tackle world record is 12.6 pounds (caught in Venezuela); 13 of the 16 current IGFA world records caught from Florida waters. They love warm, brackish water like that found in south Florida canals where they can grow in excess of 20 inches long.
