Living in wetland habitats, including estuaries, marshes, streams, lakes, black crowned night herons can be found on all continents except Australia and Antarctica. They typically perch in trees or in foliage during the day and forage for food in the evening and early morning. With their distinct black cap, they are definitely a handsome sight along the wetlands.
