I’m creating pieces with 2 things on the 22nd of the month in 2022 in 22cm x 22cm on watercolor paper stock. (For framing purposes, the paper will be 9” x 12”.)

The 2 on the 22nd in 2022 features two beautiful travelers. Most monarch butterflies live for 5 weeks, except for the generation born at the end of summer. These amazing creatures migrate from the US and Canada where they breed, all the way down to the forests in central Mexico where they hibernate. These butterflies will live up to 8 months as they fly back to their wintering grounds after flying up to 2,500 miles. The monarch is the only butterfly known to make a two-way migration as birds do.

The monarch butterfly was recently declared endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

This original piece is a 22cm x 22cm watercolor painting on 300gsm paper stock.
