The Workart for this week was a speed sketch and paint. I wanted to see what I could do in an hour...and here it is. It was a fun race against the clock. A bit of a trial for capturing outdoor light that changes so quickly.

The lovely bird in this scene is the barred owl. Barred Owls roost quietly in forest trees during the day, though they can occasionally be heard calling in daylight hours. They hunt small mammals, but also fish for crawdads and crabs. If they eat enough crawdads, the feathers under their wings can turn pink like a flamingo's! I will likely try to paint one again to better capture their details.
